With the hype in outsourcing anything and everything, we’re seeing an increase of people outsourcing content creation. Whenever there’s a hype, before getting involved in it, it’s important to take a step back and evaluate the costs versus benefits.

We’re all aware that it’s much cheaper to have content written for you in India than by a freelancer in New York. That’s not up for debate. Of course, there will be some people from the U.S. trying to compete with these foreign freelancers, but this huge difference in cost is apparent generally speaking.

The issue with outsourcing content is msot of the time, not only does the writer have little to no knowledge on the subject you assign them to write about, but they also are not familiar with the English language, and its grammar. When I was involved in flipping websites, I used to outsource my content 9 out of 10 times. But everytime I outsourced it, even though I was getting a great deal with a good turnaround time, the articles didn’t only make sense grammatically, but it was obvious that the writers lacked knowledge of the subjects I told them to research and write about.

I only outsource 1 thing now in my business. While I’m not going to disclose the part of my business I outsource (no, it’s not content), I think that while the idea of outsourcing is great, the quality of the work done doesn’t meet the average American’s standards. What do you think? Is it worth it to outsource content, or is it worth it to pay more to someone in the U.S. who can write better articles? I look forward to your comments. Stay tuned for more articles on outsourcing.
