GEO Domains: The Hottest Domains in the Industry
GEO domains are considered to be some of the hottest types of domain names in our domain industry. Of course, real estate and loan domains are a current trend, but eventually when our economy climbs back on up, real estate and loan domain will most likely drop in value. So that’s why many consider GEO names to be even better than real estate and loan domain which are simply only a trend.
When I discuss GEO domains, for those of you who don’t know, GEO domains are geographical domain names. So a domain like USA.com would be a geographical domain. Or a domain like Chicago.com is a geographical domain name. Any domain having to do with a particular place is considered to be a GEO domain name.
There are two main reasons why I believe GEO domains are the hottest and best investments. My first reason being that it is very easy to develop a GEO domain name. With some domains, you really need to think about what you want to make them into, and what niche would fit best with it. When you have GEO domain like Chicago.com, it is clearly going to be about the city of Chicago. For example, I have a domain, CopleySquareBoston.com, which I am going to work on developing soon, and when I see that domain, I know right away that my site is going to be about Copley Square in Boston. As basically an add-on to this main point I just shared, viewers will recognize what your site is about just from your domain name. And that is always good considering it will bring more targeted visitors.
My second main reason why GEO domain names are so hot are there are plenty of end users out there who would love to have a domain name of a city. Some say, why would one invest in a GEO domain. WelI, I will spin this in terms everyone can probably relate to. I know, where I live, and where most people live, there are plenty of stores. For this example, lets say I am the store owner of Domainer’s Mall in Chicago (NOT a real place). When tourists visit places, most do some research first as to where they want to go. A lot start by going to (The Town Name).com, so in this example, if someone was going to Chicago, they would go to Chicago.com. I would love if my store, the Domainer’s Mall, was at that web address because I would want tourists to come and shop in my store and my store to really build a name for itself. I know this seems a bit confusing, but if you think about it, it really does make sense. Also, lets say someone googled Chicago. If your SEO is solid, chances are your domain, Chicago.com will be on one of the first few changes. When people go to your site, your store will build up a name for itself for tourists to come visit.
Anyways, those are my two really long reasons why I believe GEO domains are the best investment at this point in time. They aren’t trendy considering towns and cities for the most part last forever. They are not your average trendy domains. I would love to hear your comments and feelings about GEO domains, and experiences with them. So please, feel free to submit your comments below.
