A Response from Oversee.net: Precautions SnapNames is Taking
To look into the SnapNames scandal a little deeper, I decided to shoot an email over to my friend Monte, CEO of Moniker.com. He then forwarded my email to the Vice President of Corporate Communications for Oversee, the parent company of Moniker, in order to put me in touch with a person who could best answer my question.
I asked two main questions. The first one dug a little bit deeper into the “Halvarez” scandal. I was told that they couldn’t discuss any further legalities of the case other than what was published on the website. While this might be an outrage to some, it’s understandable. I’m sure once SnapNames as well as “Halvarez” get through the legal process, SnapNames will be able to release at least a little bit more information about the scandal.
My second questions revolved around what security measures SnapNames would be taking to prevent this from ever happening again. Although I did get a general answer for this, I was happy getting any further information than what was given on the SnapNames website:
Those are just a few of the main precautions SnapNames will be taking. I tried to dig a little deeper to get as much information as I could, but unfortunately, especially when it comes to legalities, they need to keep their mouths shut (which sucks for us domainers, but it’s not their fault). There’s only so much they can say with the law involved.
We’d like to give a special thank you to the Vice President of Corporate Communications from Oversee for taking the time to share the precautions they will be taking. It’s greatly appreciated.
