Twitter: The Best in the Social Networking AND Social Bookmarking Industry

A couple of weeks ago, as I was completing a domain transaction with a client I work with frequently, he asked me if I had a “Twitter”. At the time, I didn’t know about Twitter.com, so I thought my client was crazy at first. And trust me when I say that it got a good laugh out of the both of us when I asked him why he was talking like a bird. Then when he explained to me what Twitter was, I checked out the site, and decided to make an account for myself and see what exactly it was and how it could help me.

Since I signed up for my Twitter account, I haven’t regretted it one bit. Yes, Twitter may be a little addictive to the extent you go there maybe once, twice, or even three times throughout your day, but most social networking sites are, such as FaceBook.com, which averaged 45 million UNIQUE visits throughout October, 2008, or MySpace.com, which averaged 55 million UNIQUE visits throughout October, 2008. Notice I made the word “UNIQUE” quite noticable to stress that these are only their unique visitors for the month of October, and there were most likely plenty more regular, non-unique visitors as well.

Getting back on track with talking about Twitter, the one thing I really like about it is it’s sort of a mix of social bookmarking and social networking, all in one site. It’s like the all-inclusive package. One think you can do is post your status updates, which most of the time include a link to whatever you are working on. And don’t be surprised if you get a solid amount of visitors from that link you posted in your status. That’s the social bookmarking part of it. The social networking part is you can connect with domainers worldwide, like you do on the forums for example, but Twitter makes it much more personal, and of course you know all the people who are either A) following you on twitter or B) people that you are following.

So while you are connecting with domainers, you are also link building for your sites using your status update, which on a side note is perfectly legal to do in your status and is not breaking the TOS. Link building will potentially increase traffic, and possibly help boost your page rank.

Anyways folks, I hope you all will check out Twitter.com, and see it for yourselves by Clicking Here. It’s definitely one of those tools that not only domainers, but internet entrepreneurs shouldn’t pass up on. Feel free to comment your feelings on Twitter, and how it has helped you!
