DynaDot’s Support Puts a Frown on My Face

I sold one of my domain names over the forums about 2 days ago. The domain is registered at DynaDot.com, and when I went to transfer it, they made me go through an unlocking process to unlock the domain. The process includes requiring you to enter your birth date. Now, there are tons of people who could have made this account for me, ranging from my business partner to one close to me. Quite frankly, it was so long ago, I have to clue who made it, and what their birthday was.

So I emailed DynaDot support, and their response was telling me if I wanted to unlock my, and didn’t know my own birthday (which I was a little insulted about, because the support team didn’t take into consideration that someone else could have made the account for me or I may have just entered in a random date), I must send them a government-issued photo ID.

What an inconvenience! I couldn’t believe they would make me go through this entire faxing process just to transfer one cheap domain. I have got to say, my day flipped from a good one to a bad one once I began dealing with DynaDot. And honestly, they won’t have a part in my business again after this hopefully. I will stick to my favorites, GoDaddy and Moniker.

Anyways, that was my rant on DynaDot. Maybe once they clean up their acts, by possibly implementing easier processes into their system I will consider using them again. I would love to hear everyone’s comments on DynaDot and past experiences with them.
