Bing: An Interesting Approach
When I had first heard about Bing, I figured it was Microsoft’s helpless attempt to revamp their MSN search in order to beat out Google. As I learnd more about Bing and began using it more often, I learned my original assumption was wrong. Bing has so much more to offer, from booking travel to providing health information.
The Bing Travel function is something I have used a few times over the past few months. The advanced functionality of Bing Travel is unbelievable. One of the most unique functions on Bing Travel is their price predictor, which gives you a suggestion as to whether its the right time buy tickets or not.
Earlier today, I saw a commercial for Bing, promoting both Bing’s search engine and travel function. I was able to find the commercial on YouTube, and I thought it would give everyone a chuckle:
Bing seems to be emphasizing their other features just as much if not more than their search engine. The commercial you just viewed in the video above may not be the best example, but it does show that Bing isn’t all about their search engine. I find this to be an interesting approach. And I respect Microsoft’s business decision not to try to compete with Google or Yahoo. Bing’s approach just seems like a new, revolutionary way to provide users with more than just your average search engine. Maybe in the future, Google and Yahoo will follow in Bing’s footsteps and add some similar features to their websites. What do you think of Bing? Comment below!
