Out With the Old and In With the New

As I’ve had a lot of time to observe and explore various types of internet businesses, one thing has become clear to me. Old ideas aren’t the ones that are the big money makers. Yes, some internet entrepreneurs can open a blog on a popular niche, and make thousands of dollars each month from it. But the chances of making thousands of dollars per month on one blog that is about a popular niche isn’t very likely. The real money is in new ideas and new concepts.

I’ve probably made close to 100 blogs in the course of a couple of years, all on different niches. They have been on bankruptcy, cars, music, furniture, gardening, tea, food, and a lot more. And every time I create one of these different blogs, I’ll either make a few bucks a day, or make nothing, and flip it for a small profit. Even after so much experience, I wasn’t rolling in the big bucks I was looking to make.

Recently, I came to a realization that I had to get out of this dead-end business. If I had a guess there are plenty of people like me who don’t make much on any of their blogs. I say it’s a dead-end because for a lot of people there’s no where they can really take their blogging/content website business.

It’s new concepts and ideas that can really rack up some money. Why do you think Yahoo is so successful? How about MySpace? YouTube? AOL? DNUnderground (JUST KIDDING)! The point I’m trying to make is that these websites were the first of their kind (except DNUnderground). AOL, MySpace, YouTube, and Yahoo are some of the biggest websites on the web right now. And the reason why is because they were new concepts when they first came out.

A great example of this is Bux.to. PTC was a new concept (although PPC was not), and the guy who started Bux.to started a completely new concept the internet had never truly seen before. And although new concepts are always toss up’s on whether the consumers and internet users will like the idea, you have a much higher chance of really making your concept/website HUGE. The Bux.to owners now have an EXTREMELY successful website/business, all thanks to 1 new simple concept.

Anyways, that’s my little rant of the day. For anyone whose wondering, I’m not demoting blogging in any way, shape or form. The reason I personally blog on DNUnderground is because I love domaining and I love writing these types of online business related articles. I’m just trying to explain that internet entrepreneurs have better chances of being successful with new concepts. Getting back to business, I’d love to hear your comments, so please submit them below!

Actually Myspace and Yahoo were old ideas that had great marketing and people behind them. It not so much a new idea that makes money. Its a spin or better package of the same product that makes the money.

Ever heard of those Snuggle things? Well that was actually made years and years before Snuggle was even thought of. What made it successful is that marketing of the product.

Ross, I read over your comment, and appreciate you submitting one. While I do agree with you, I disagree with you at the same time. The marketing is the big part of any website, but when your website is one-of-a-kind, and something the internet hasn’t really seen before, that’s when you have a MUCH bigger chance at success.

Basically, anyone could open a news website and blog about recent news. They can market it well, but think about it. If you were a consumer would you rather get your information source from a smaller website, or a site like CNN or ABC. That shows you that marketing isn’t the whole idea of running a successful website, while it is important.
