Where your site shows up in the search engines has to do more with on site optimization, domain name, and backlinks combined. Pagerank is only one aspect (I think a fairly small aspect) on where your site is ranked. On the flip side, pagerank really helps get quality backlinks through link exchanges. Pagerank simply has to do with the number and quality of backlinks that your site has.
