Stop Whining: Thank Domaining.com
There have been a couple of complaints this past week about the most popular feed in the domaining industry, Domaining.com. The complaints had to do with a donation button being added to the website along with more technology-related feeds being added. The outrage that have been expressed about these “problems” are absolutely absurd and need to stop.
First off, you need to accept that Domaining.com did add technology blogs to their feed. If you’re angry about this, Domaining.com has a tool that allows you to block feeds. God forbid you have to click once or twice to get rid of a feed. But keep in mind that technology blogs are useful to most internet businesses. Domaining is a type of internet business, so Francois (the owner of Domaining.com) is simply expanding his feed to include other information that can potentially help domainers.
Late last week, Domaining.com put a donation button on the top of their feed. Surprisingly enough, this outraged a couple of domainers for one reason or another. In my opinion, if you were outraged by a donation button, I’m going to recommend you go to anger management classes. If donation button on a website is troublesome to you, you may want to step outside for a change and smell the coffee. Domaining.com removed this button at some point during this weekend or today. The amazing thing is Domaining.com had every right to put that donation button on their website. They provide one of the most useful, popular feeds to the domaining industry, and most-likely don’t make much (or as much as they should be).
Anyways, sorry for the rant. I think it’s necessary that domainers understand that they should stop complaining Domaining.com, but actually thanking them for their helpful, free service. I look forward to comments.
Sam: Completely agree with your comments. Well put.
The technology feeds have no place in a domaining group of feeds. If that’s the case, why stop there, let’s see cooking, sports and politics feeds added. The feeds, being less than 7 days old, were impossible to remove. These feeds beamed out one new post every 10 minutes completely burying the other feeds. With regards to the donation button, I’ve no problem with that. Donations come from those that want to donate, those that don’t want to, simply don’t.
How about “Stop whining, use NameBee.com”?
I have been using them since Francois’s latest breakdown and loved it. I just got tired of all the Domaining.com drama.
Simon, I appreciate the comment. I’m glad others are in agreement with my position.
Acro, I think that you should consider the articles many technology blogs publish that include information on WordPress and up-to-date themes. These types of articles can really help people develop their domains, which in my opinion is a part of the domaining industry. It’s also important for all business owners or employees, no matter what industry, to understand the latest and greatest technology. I think you’re limiting domaining too much. I think of it more as a business.
Troy, NameBee and Domaining are both great feeds. Using one or the other should purely be based off of your preference. They’re for the most part the same website with a few different features and designs.
