What Can DomainTools Do for You?
I want to start of by saying, this is not a paid post. DomainTools.com is one of DNUnderground’s long-term sponsors (their banner for the new DNUnderground design will be up again soon). Today, I took a couple of minutes to explore their website and discover many tools I didn’t realize they had to offer. Many of these tools could prove very valuable to any domainer or business.
The first thing I think about when I hear DomainTools.com is their whois (whois.sc). It’s commonly known amongst the domaining industry for being the best whois. It’s great organization allows you to easily navigate around and view the owner of a domain name, the server stats, the name servers, registration information, and even a website profile. All of those whois services are offered for free.
I would say a good number of domainers already know about their whois, so I won’t dwell over it for too long. The service that really grabbed my attention was the Mark Alert service they offer. We’re seeing trademark infringement and cybersquatting cases becoming much more prevalent in the domaining industry and business world. The Mark Alert system alerts you when somebody has a domain name with your trademark in it. This saves you the time of researching people who are infringing on your trademark. This is the perfect tool for any size business that owns a trademark or domain.
Another service that really impressed me was their Domain Monitor. This is the perfect tool for any domainer. It will monitor up to 100,000 domains for you, and will contact you when there’s an expiration date coming up or any type of status change. This will allow you to compete with other domainers who are using drop catchers to pick up domains, many of which don’t even allow you to monitor specific domains.
Those are just three services offered by DomainTools.com. They have many services that are free, such as the whois, and many that require a paid membership. But they make membership very affordable. You can become a free member, silver member ($15/month) or gold member ($30/month). Trust me, joining as a silver or gold member is certainly worth it. They offer some of the best domaining tools you’ll find at a cost that’s affordable to everyone.
Attention: This isn’t a paid post, and I don’t get any bonus if you join.
Nice article, I agree domaintools is a great resource. Good luck with your new dnunderground design.
